Allotments Society

THE ALLOTMENT SOCIETY

At one time the village had three separate allotment areas – the last one was in Brookhampton Street until the land was finally built upon in the 1980’s. This seemed a pity and following discussions with the Parish Council, an area of land was found and made available –  perhaps heralding the start of a new golden age of vegetable growing in the village! The Allotment Association was formed in May 2008.

THE ALLOTMENTS

We are located at the edge of the village on Coploe Road just before the motorway bridge. We have approximately 1.565 hectares/3.87 acres of ex-agricultural land, kindly made available by Lewis Duke. The site includes a car parking area, a communal shed, mains water and an orchard (planted 2023).  We have now laid out and allocated 35 full plots of which some have been divided to create half plots.

We also hold social and fund-raising events throughout the year including a plant sale, produce show and Wassail in the orchard.

RENTAL SUBSCRIPTIONS FROM JANUARY 2025 ARE –

Full Plot: £40.00 per calendar year
Half Plot: £25.00 per calendar year

The subscription includes membership of the NSALG, and a discount scheme for seed purchases. Click here to check it out. On site we have free water, wood chips and a constant supply of manure.
