VILLAGE HALL NEWS

Who would have thought that when we had to close the hall in March that our user groups would still be unable, three months later, to participate in all the weekly activities held in the village hall. The Government announced that from 4th July village halls may open, providing they can meet all the required regulations. We are extremely mindful of our duty of care to the whole community, so after due consideration of all the guidelines we have decided not to open immediately, but work towards a gradual re-opening, possibly in September. We will continue to keep abreast of any new government advice and work with our regular groups to ensure that when we do open the doors again we are confident that everything required is in place and everyone is as safe as possible when using the hall.
If you passed by the hall during the ‘lockdown’ you may have noticed some continued activity. Fortunately, we were able to continue the planned work (strictly adhering to social distancing) of replacing all the lighting to energy-efficient fittings and room movement sensors. The work was funded thanks to a SCDC Zero Carbon Initiative grant. The kitchen has also been redecorated and updated and a new fridge/freezer and water heater installed, using the money raised from the Open Gardens day in 2019 and a Community Chest grant.
We can’t second guess what the next weeks or months hold for us all, but hopefully it won’t be too long before we can get back to safely enjoying the variety of classes and groups that take place in the hall.
