Wednesday 26 May 2010 in the Village Hall at 7.30 pm

Apologies had been received from:  Sheila Birch, Tim Pavelin, Jane Hurst & Peter Wombwell

Number present:  The Chairman, Parish Clerk and 22 people including Parish Councillors and the District and County Councillors.

1.       Welcome:  The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting.

  1. He then introduced Andrew Shepperd, who gave a talk and demonstration of the information available on the Ickleton village website.  Members of the Ickleton Society have put onto the site, archival and recent material relating to the village.  He would be pleased to hear from anyone who has something of interest that could go on the website.

  1. Gary Kendall (PCSO) from the Sawston Police Neighbourhood Scheme gave an update on local issues and left leaflets on E-cops and ‘Not sure? – Don’t open the door’.  The next Neighbourhood Panel meeting at Sawston is on 5 July.

  1. Ann Gardner (Head teacher of Duxford CofE Community Primary School) then gave a talk about the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the school, which are taking place in June.  She also spoke about the garden that they had planted making use of a piece of land that had become available.  The Bishop of Huntingdon will be visiting the school on 15 December 2010 to mark the day when the school was first opened on 15 December 1960.

5.       Report from the Chairman of the Parish Council (including Financial Report):  The Chairman gave his annual report which can be found on the village website.

The Chairman paid tribute to his predecessor Robin Driver, who had stepped down from the Parish Council last week.  He has put in many years of service as a Councillor at both the District and County levels, and became a leading player on the local political stage.  He was able to give the Parish Council the bigger picture, and to put all of his considerable experience at our disposal.  He will be sorely missed.  The Parish Council would like to thank Robin for his substantial and prolonged service to our community and wider area, and wish him all the best for the future.
